Job summary

ICF is seeking a senior transmission planning engineer to own complex engagements, lead a multi-discipline team, and guide strategy in a fast-changing grid. The role covers steady-state, transient stability, interconnection processes, and long-range buildout assessments, with a focus on clear communication to utility executives.

You will develop automation tools in Python and contribute to proposals, scopes, and client presentations, while mentoring engineers on technical reviews and project

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of experience in transmission planning, power system studies, or related electrical engineering.
• Experience leading or managing technical study engagements as primary point of contact.
• Familiarity with regional ISOs/RTOs and interconnection processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead on transmission planning engagements, owning scope, schedule, quality, and client relationship.
• Perform steady-state load flow and contingency analysis (PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld).
• Conduct transient stability and dynamic simulations (PSCAD/EMTP).
• Develop Python-based automation to improve study execution and data workflows.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support business development activities.
