Job summary

ICF is seeking a senior transmission planning engineer to own complex engagements and lead a team within the Power Delivery Services practice. You will guide power system studies, from kickoff to final deliverables, working with utilities, developers, and grid operators.

You will apply steady-state and transient analysis, model both conventional and IBR resources, and mentor engineers while supporting business development and client relationships.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
• 2+ years of experience in transmission planning, power system studies, or related electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead or study manager on transmission planning engagements, owning scope and client relationships.
• Perform steady-state load flow and contingency analysis for utility transmission planning and interconnection studies.
• Conduct transient stability and dynamic simulations, including modeling of conventional generation and inverter-based resources.
• Lead generation and large load interconnection studies across multiple ISOs/RTOs.
• Develop long-range transmission expansion plans considering load growth and generation retirement.
• Develop Python-based automation to improve study execution and data workflows.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical review and guidance.
• Participate in business development through proposals and client scoping.
