Job summary

ICF is seeking a senior transmission planning engineer to own complex engagements, lead a team, and shape our practice direction. Expect involvement in steady-state analysis, transient stability, interconnection processes, and long-range buildout assessments as you work with utilities and grid operators.

You will develop reports, mentor engineers, and contribute to business development while staying current with FERC policies and ISO/RTO standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• 5+ years of experience in transmission planning, power system studies, or related electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead or study manager on transmission planning engagements, owning scope, schedule, quality, and client relationship.
• Perform steady-state load flow and contingency analysis for utility transmission planning and interconnection studies.
• Conduct transient stability and dynamic simulation studies, including modeling of generation and inverter-based resources.
• Lead large load interconnection studies for data center, hyperscaler, industrial, or other high-demand customers.
• Develop Python-based automation and tooling to improve study execution efficiency, model management, and data workflows.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical review and day-to-day collaboration.
