Job summary

Qualus is seeking a fully remote Senior Transmission Planning Engineer to join our Transmission Planning Department. You will provide technical leadership, perform steady-state analyses, and apply power system modeling techniques for complex transmission projects.

The role emphasizes expertise in load-flow studies, experience with NERC/FERC guidelines, and the ability to mentor less experienced engineers while coordinating with clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
4–10 years engineering experience.
Experience running Steady State studies.
Knowledge of power system analysis and modeling techniques.
Strong analytical and computer skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Recognized by clients as an industry expert with familiarity of NERC/FERC guidelines.
Provide technical direction and set philosophy for Qualus engineering practice.
Familiar with load flow software (TARA, PSSE, PSLF, Powerworld) and perform System Impact Studies.
Be able to run Steady State studies and analyze transmission contingencies.
Lead and mentor junior consultants; assign and review projects.
Justify strategy and analyses with documentation and data for stakeholders.
