Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Senior Transmission Planning Engineer to work fully remotely in the United States. The role focuses on WECC utilities with leadership in planning, modeling, and stability studies.

The candidate should bring 5+ years of experience, expertise in steady state and transient analyses, and proficiency with PSLF/PSSE/Powerworld. Strong communication and mentoring skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years engineering experience.
• Experience running Steady State and Transient Stability studies
• Knowledge of power system analysis and modeling techniques.
• Experience using PSLF software.
• Experience with transmission planning for utilities in the WECC.
• Must have strong analytical and computer skills.
• Must have strong written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Recognized by clients as an industry expert and familiar with NERC/FERC guidelines.
• Lead technical direction and philosophy for Qualus; mentor junior consultants.
• Familiar with load flow software such as PSLF, PSSE, Powerworld.
• Generate System Impact Studies and Transmission Service Requests.
• Run Steady State and Transient Stability studies.
• Simulate and analyze performance of transmission and generation systems.
• Provide leadership by assigning and reviewing projects and mentoring staff.
• Delegate, plan, prioritize, and review work of consultants.
• Justify strategy and analyses with documentation and data to stakeholders.
