Job summary

ICF International, Inc. seeks a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead design and analysis for utility clients. You will mentor junior engineers and provide senior-level technical expertise across projects, from concept through final design, ensuring high-quality deliverables with a home-office setup.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related field).
• 5 years of transmission line engineering experience (design, analysis, modeling, or similar).
• 5 years of experience working with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.
• 5 years of experience working in PLS-CADD.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines from concept to final design, including EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses and voltage drop analysis.
• Provide senior-level technical expertise ensuring accuracy, best practices, and industry-leading design solutions.
• Perform studies such as conductor economics, lightning performance, grounding calculations, and electrical clearance per NESC and standards.
• Interpret regulatory requirements (NERC, FERC, regional standards) and ensure compliance across deliverables.
• Prepare and review specs, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings and purchase recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing and construction support.
• Perform QA/QC for deliverables, CAD outputs, and construction admin activities.
• Conduct and lead field inspections and installation reviews for public and private clients.
• Develop and present technical reports, support BD efforts and client relationships.
