Job summary

ICF is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to advance our growing transmission engineering practice. Lead complex designs, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality deliverables for utility clients, with a remote-friendly, flexible environment.

In this role, you will apply senior expertise, direct staff, and engage in design to modeling and analysis. A strong background in PL S-CADD and industry standards is essential for success.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or Power Engineering.
• 8+ years in transmission line engineering (design, analysis, modeling).
• 8+ years with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.
• Experience directing and reviewing work for QA and on-budget delivery.
• Ability to plan, manage assignments and communicate barriers effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee complex transmission line designs from conceptual to final design.
• Provide senior-level technical direction to design staff and ensure accuracy.
• Perform conductor economic evaluations, lightning, grounding calculations, and clearance determinations per standards (NESC, etc).
• Interpret NERC, FERC, and regional standards for project compliance.
• Prepare and review technical docs: specs, data sheets, RFQs, vendor drawings, and purchases.
• Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing.
• Perform QA/QC for engineering deliverables and construction drawings.
• Conduct field inspections and installation reviews for clients.
