Job summary

ICF is seeking a Transmission Line Engineering Manager to lead a new practice supporting utility clients nationwide. This leadership role focuses on operational management, technical oversight, staff development, and strategic growth in transmission line engineering services.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with people leadership, client relationships, and business acumen. Fully remote US work model with opportunities for growth and development.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related field). PE licensure.
• 12+ years experience with electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.
• 10+ years transmission line engineering (design, analysis, modeling).
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, project portfolios, resource planning, and financial performance.
• PM experience with transmission projects 4kV-500kV, WBS, critical path, EV, SOV, milestones, change management.
• Proficiency in PLS‑CADD and industry software/tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of transmission line engineers, designers, and specialists; establish performance expectations and career development.
• Manage staffing, recruiting, workload forecasting, and resource allocation for project success.
• Oversee delivery of transmission line projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for complex projects; promote best practices and innovation.
• Establish and improve engineering standards, QA/QC processes, and workflows for efficiency.
• Own department performance: utilization, backlog, revenue targets, profitability.
• Collaborate with PMs and leaders to monitor performance, address risks, and resolve constraints.
• Build relationships with utility clients, contractors, and partners; support proposals and client satisfaction.
