Job summary

ICF is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to lead advanced transmission line projects and mentor engineers. You will guide complex designs, ensure accuracy, and deliver high-quality solutions for utility clients.

The role emphasizes senior technical leadership, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with project teams in a flexible remote setting. Strong communication and proactive supervision are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or related).
8+ years of transmission line engineering experience.
8+ years with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consultant.
8+ years of experience with PLS-CADD.
Experience directing/mentoring others for quality assurance.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee complex transmission line designs from concept to final design.
Provide senior technical direction to design staff and ensure quality deliverables.
Conduct studies like conductor economics, lightning performance, grounding, and clearance per standards.
Interpret NERC, FERC, and regional regulations and ensure compliance.
Develop technical documentation, data sheets, RFQs, and vendor drawings.
Collaborate with project managers on scope, schedule, budget and staffing.
Perform QA/QC for engineering outputs and field issue resolution.
Conduct field inspections and installation reviews for clients.
