Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead design of transmission line projects within our Power group. You will serve as a subject-matter expert, guiding clients and internal teams through design, analysis, and documentation efforts.

Responsibilities include design with PLS-CADD, cost estimation, and producing construction packages while ensuring compliance with NESC, IEEE, and NEC standards. Travel to client sites and mentoring teammates are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering.
• 4+ years of transmission line design experience.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC, and related codes for transmission line design.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD.
• Experience in electrical utility/utility consulting preferred.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or similar software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, plan and profiles, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, and schedules; set realistic deadlines.
• Write/review specifications per NESC/IEEE/industry standards.
• Conduct routing/feasibility studies and EMF calculations.
• Oversee project implementation with verification of foundations, structures, and equipment.
• Assist with proposals and business development; travel to client sites as needed.
• Mentor engineers and technicians to foster growth.
