Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead design and oversight of critical transmission projects. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding client discussions and internal teams while ensuring conformance with NESC, IEEE, and NEC standards.

Responsibilities include design with PLS-CADD, cost estimation, proposal support, and mentoring junior staff. Travel to client sites is required; a PE license is preferred and prior utility experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college.
• 7+ years of transmission line design experience.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC, and related standards.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD; experience with structural analysis tools is a plus.
• PE license preferred; electrical utility or consulting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission line project designs and act as SME in transmission line engineering.
• Lead project discussions with clients and internal teams; provide strategic input to leadership.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, and profiles.
• Estimate costs, resources, and schedules; ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
• Review specifications per NESC/IEEE/NEC; conduct feasibility and routing studies.
• Oversee project implementation; mentor engineers and technicians; travel to client sites.
