Job summary

GFT in the power business group is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead transmission line project designs and serve as a subject matter expert in transmission line engineering. You will collaborate with clients and internal teams, develop design criteria, prepare construction packages, and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and NEC.

Mentorship and business development are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college
• 7+ years of experience in transmission line design
• Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC and related standards
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD
• Electrical utility/utility consulting experience preferred
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
• PE license preferred

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or other design software
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, plans and profiles
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials with realistic deadlines
• Write/modify review specifications per NESC, IEEE, NEC and industry best practices
• Conduct feasibility and routing studies and EMF calculations
• Oversee project implementation and verification of foundations, structures, and equipment
• Lead or assist with proposals and business development
• Travel to client sites for project definition and execution
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers and technicians
