Job summary

United Grid Solutions in Mount Laurel, NJ seeks a senior transmission line engineer to lead detailed design, analysis, and project coordination for high-voltage line projects, including renewable interconnections. You will mentor designers, develop proposals, and manage schedules and budgets while ensuring safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in electrical utility transmission, an ABET-accredited engineering degree, and a PE license or active pursuit.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of electrical utility transmission line design experience (69kV+).
• Ability to deliver complete design packages on time and within budget.
• Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, ACI and IEEE standards.
• Experience supervising junior staff and coordinating across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering/technical expertise and guidance in problem identification, analysis, and resolution.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities.
• Prepare thorough, timely technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
• Continuously improve engineering knowledge, skills, and performance.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Understand and create transmission line drawing packages.
• Support company goals and represent the company professionally.
• Interact with customer’s engineers and technical personnel daily.
• Develop and maintain professional client relationships.
• Monitor deliverables and schedules, present solutions to client.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Oversee the work of junior staff and mentor designers/drafters.
• Collaborate with other design disciplines, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Visit sites and advise on transmission line issues during construction.
• Coordinate staff and projects; assist in proposals and contracts; support permitting activities.
