Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Transmission Engineer to join our team in KC. You will lead transmission design from concept through completion for underground and overhead lines, collaborating with project teams to meet budget and client needs.

You will prepare specifications and data sheets, perform grounding and clearance studies, and apply advanced CAD tools to update drawings. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree with 3 years transmission experience.
• FE exam completed and 3 years transmission experience.
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with 2 years transmission experience.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural engineering techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Review and modify transmission components per project needs.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Conduct economic conductor selection studies and grounding calculations.
• Prepare required clearances per NESC and applicable codes.
