Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Staff Transmission Engineer to design and redevelop high-voltage transmission projects, from concept through design completion. You will adapt plans for budgets, design factors, and client needs, and work with project teams during design and construction.

You will prepare specifications, perform studies, and update CAD drawings while ensuring compliance with NESC, NERC and regional standards.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Eng degree with 3 years transmission experience.
• Alternate: ABET-accredited Civil/Eng Technology with FE and 3 years transmission experience.
• Master's in Civil Eng with 2 years transmission experience.
• Strong knowledge of standard civil/structural techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work analytically in quantitative problem solving.
• Proficient in MS Office and CAD/analysis tools.
• EIT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission design from concept to design completion.
• Modify and review transmission components for project needs.
• Prepare equipment specs, RFQs, bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Perform conductor selection studies, lightning and grounding calculations.
• Compile calculations for NESC/NERC/FERC/regional requirements.
• Update drawings in CAD-related software.
• Prepare client presentations, shop drawings, and contract administration.
• Conduct field inspections and measurements.
• Comply with policies and standards.
