Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems is seeking a Traffic Control Technician in Jacksonville, FL. You will set up and take down lane closures, redirect traffic, and support workers on state highways and job sites.

You’ll also assemble, deliver, and collect safety products, following contractor directions. Top candidates will have 1–3 years of experience, 2,000 field hours in traffic control, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a good driving record.
• 1–3 years of experience and 2,000 in-field hours in traffic control.
• Must pass a background check, including motor vehicle records.
• Must pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear PPE: boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, vest.
• Able to read and write for road signs, paperwork, and regulations.
• Must read plans and implement traffic control plans.
• Good knowledge of state/local roadways; operate delivery vehicles.
• Lift up to 70 pounds.
• Must complete ATSSA TCT intermediate training.
• Willing to travel statewide; occasional overnight stays; nights/weekends.
• Rotating on-call schedule.
• Mechanical background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards.
• Set up traffic cones and safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone during shifts.
• Load traffic control items at start/end of shifts.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform shop maintenance and repairs on equipment.
• Follow safety rules and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
