Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking an Advanced Staff Thermal Systems Engineer to lead system-level architectures and execution for aerospace thermal management programs. You will supervise a multidisciplinary team, coordinate with PMs, and serve as the primary technical contact for customers.

You will guide architectural decisions, perform analyses, manage risks, and help grow the engineering community. This senior role emphasizes leadership and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and a Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Systems Engineering, preferably within Thermal Management Systems.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace technical disciplines including requirements management, technical verification and validation methodologies, mechanical design, materials, modeling/documentation, structural analysis, thermal fluid sciences, electrical systems, system controls, embedded controls, development testing and analysis, qualification analysis and testing.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationships and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of aerospace requirements management methodologies and processes – traceability, decomposition, derivation verification, and validation.
  • Experience with major aircraft systems: environmental control systems, powerplant, electrical, hydraulics, controls, avionics, power generation and structures.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing and qualification methods such as MIL-STD-810 and DO-160
  • Experience with MBSE tools and processes heavily desired
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and be responsible for program’s architecture and technical approach, including thermal and controls analysis, reliability analysis, solid modeling, testing and stress analysis.
  • Serve as technical lead for programs, coordinate activities with internal and external resources.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and ensure execution of development programs.
  • Manage technical requirements from top down – traceability, decomposition, derivation, verification & validation.
  • Allocate and decompose high-level requirements to internal groups and suppliers.
  • Lead the technical strategy and maturation of the engineering team.
  • Research and recommend investments in technology, tools, procedures, equipment, systems.
  • Communicate and collaborate with customers and suppliers during design development.
  • Review and approve documentation for transition from prototype to production.
  • Provide engineering support to troubleshoot and diagnose non-performing products (RCCA, lessons learned).
