Job summary

Trane Technologies in the United States (virtual) seeks a Thermal Systems Lead Engineer, Electrical & Power, to design and validate integrated electrical and cooling reference designs for data centers. You will drive high-voltage DC architectures (800VDC) and ensure interoperability across IT and facilities teams.

You will lead power distribution, UPS, PDUs, and monitoring, manage partnerships with electrical gear manufacturers, and mentor junior engineers while advancing system-level PUE

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7-10 years of electrical engineering experience focused on data center power.
• Experience with data center power standards and high-voltage DC.
• Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of electrical and power systems into data center reference designs.
• Lead the end-to-end design of electrical power systems for data center projects, from switchgear to IT rack level.
• Provide technical expertise on power distribution, UPS, PDUs, and power monitoring (EPMS).
• Ensure the electrical integrity, interoperability, and compatibility of integrated systems, including racks, power distribution, and thermal management components.
• Address integration challenges, including managing transients from AI workloads and arc-flash hazards in high-density environments.
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with electrical gear manufacturers.
• Drive proof-of-concept projects and validation for new power architectures (800VDC).
• Collaborate with other engineering leads to optimize system-level PUE.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.
