Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Thermal Systems Lead Engineer, Sustainable Design, to embed sustainability in data center reference designs. You will partner with engineering leaders to ensure roadmaps reflect energy and water efficiency, decarbonization, and lifecycle impact.

You will develop standards for PUE, WUE, and carbon footprint, quantify benefits of sustainable designs, and manage LCAs/EPDs with the enterprise sustainability team. Strong collaboration and mentorship are essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering background in data center/high-tech design is required.
• Experience with PLC controls is a plus.
• Experience with onsite power generation and/or backup power distribution is a plus.
• Knowledge of HVAC products, components, and systems is desired.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated and disciplined.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering leads to ensure multi-generational system roadmaps reflect sustainable designs.
• Develop sustainability standards for all system reference designs, including metrics for PUE, WUE, carbon footprint, and sound levels (dB).
• Lead efforts for quantifying benefits around sustainable data centers and system reference designs.
• Develop and manage system-level Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) with our enterprise sustainable team.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to drive a roadmap for improving sustainability performance of our solutions.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.
