Job summary

Trane Limited is seeking a Thermal Systems Lead Engineer to own the facility-side thermal infrastructure for AI data centers. You will lead the mechanical loop design, focusing on chillers, pumps, and heat rejection equipment to deliver efficient, resilient, and scalable cooling solutions.

You will partner with teams and external partners to meet evolving chip requirements, drive innovative cooling technologies, and mentor engineers while contributing to industry standards bodies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of engineering experience in thermal system management for data centers.
• Experience with chiller plants, pumping systems, cooling towers, and air handling systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-generational system roadmaps for the mechanical loop in AI data centers.
• Serve as internal expert on advanced cooling and heat rejection technologies.
• Collaborate with partners to ensure thermal solutions meet future chip architecture requirements.
• Translate customer requirements into detailed technical specs for equipment and controls teams.
• Own mechanical loop thermal management design within reference architecture.
• Drive adoption of new cooling technologies in system designs.
• Set and track sustainability targets (PUE, WUE) with Sustainability Lead.
• Mentor junior engineers and cross-functional teammates.
• Represent the company in ASHRAE and OCP standards bodies.
