Job summary

Trane Technologies, a world leader in climate solutions, seeks a Thermal Systems Lead Engineer to own the facility-side thermal infrastructure for data centers. You will design and optimize the mechanical loop, including chillers, pumps, and heat rejection equipment, ensuring efficient, resilient, and scalable systems.

Collaborate with NVIDIA and other partners to align with future chip architectures, translate customer needs into precise specs, and drive innovation across reference designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of engineering experience with focus on thermal system management for data center cooling.
• Experience designing mechanical cooling systems for mission critical facilities, preferably data centers.
• In-depth knowledge of chiller plants, pumping systems, cooling towers, and air handling systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of multi-generational system roadmaps for the mechanical loop.
• Serve as an internal expert on advanced cooling and heat rejection technologies.
• Collaborate with partners like NVIDIA to ensure solutions meet future chip architecture requirements.
• Translate customer requirements into detailed technical specifications for equipment and controls teams.
• Own the mechanical loop thermal management system design within reference design architecture.
• Drive innovation by evaluating new cooling technologies and components.
• Work with the Sustainable Design Lead to set sustainability targets for mechanical systems.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.
• Represent the company in industry standards bodies to influence data center design.
• Overnight travel 5–15% depending on projects; some international travel possible.
