Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Thermal Engineer to join the Lunar Core Components Heat Transfer team in Seattle. You will apply your expertise to develop and verify thermal hardware for crewed lunar landers, driving design through build and test cycles.

The role emphasizes collaboration across mechanical and aerospace disciplines, CAD work (Creo), and CFD/thermal analysis tools to ensure robust performance in extreme space environments. A strong mission alignment is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
• Strong grasp of heat transfer and fluid system fundamentals.
• Familiarity with heat exchangers, cold plates, radiators, and other common spacecraft hardware.
• Experience designing, sizing, building, and/or testing hardware.
• Basic experience with CAD software; preferably Creo.
• Experience with CFD methods for component-level analysis.
• Experience with thermal analysis software such as Thermal Desktop, FloCAD, MATLAB, Python scripting, CFD++, Ansys Fluint.
• Demonstrated experience in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide thermal analysis for lunar vehicle architectures.
• Contribute to a team developing thermal hardware for lunar landers.
• Lead or support design, build, test, and verification across iterations.
