Job summary

GE Aerospace seeks a Lead Engineer 1 - Thermal Dynamics to provide analytical modeling capabilities for the systems engineering team, driving thermal modeling, trade studies, and architecture development to meet customer requirements. You’ll lead and execute modeling and analysis, correlate test data, and maintain system models and libraries.

The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across design, reliability, and software, and can be remote or on-site in St.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8–10 years of relevant experience, advanced degrees considered to satisfy experience.
• Knowledge of aerospace disciplines including verification/validation, mechanical design, materials, modeling and documentation.
• Deep expertise in thermal fluids including thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with thermal-fluid systems analysis and modeling and numerical solvers.
• Familiarity with environmental testing and qualification methods (MIL-STD-810, DO-160).
• CAD experience in NX and scripting in MATLAB/Python.

Responsibilities

• Assist System Engineer in developing system architecture and technical approach for thermal and controls analysis.
• Identify and manage technical risks related to thermal performance.
• Lead modeling and analysis efforts; coordinate with engineering teams.
• Ensure successful execution of modeling, analysis, and testing development.
• Manage thermal and performance requirements with traceability and verification.
• Decompose high-level requirements to lower-level specs for internal teams and suppliers.
• Research investments to improve discipline health and product offerings.
• Communicate with customers and suppliers during design development.
• Review and approve documentation for transition from prototype to production.
• Provide engineering support to diagnose non-performing products.
