Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior Test Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software powering automated test equipment for FPGA, embedded, and avionics hardware in defense programs. You will translate test requirements into robust software solutions for repeatable, traceable results.

Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to deliver scalable test systems, enhance automation coverage, and improve product quality while reducing development and production cycle time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing software for automated test systems, lab automation, or hardware integration.
• Proficiency in C#, Python, C++, LabVIEW, or similar.
• Experience interfacing with test instrumentation via VISA, GPIB, USB, Ethernet/LXI, Serial, or PXI.
• Experience with version control (Git or Azure DevOps).
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software for automated test equipment (ATE), HIL systems, and production test stations.
• Develop software to control lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, loads).
• Translate engineering test requirements into automated software producing repeatable, traceable results.
• Create reusable architectures and frameworks for multiple products and test platforms.
• Develop operator interfaces, test sequencing, data acquisition, analysis, logging, and reporting.
• Integrate software with avionics hardware, FPGA designs, embedded software, and external instrumentation.
