Job summary

Ursa Major in Boulder, CO is seeking a Senior Test Software Engineer to develop software for automated test equipment powering avionics and defense systems. You will design, implement, and maintain software that controls ATE, HIL, and test rigs, enabling repeatable, traceable verification across development, qualification, and production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years in software for automated test systems, lab automation, or hardware integration.
• Proficiency in C#, Python, C++, LabVIEW.
• Experience interfacing with test instrumentation via VISA, GPIB, USB, Ethernet/LXI, Serial, or PXI.
• Experience with automated test sequences, data acquisition, and test reporting.
• Familiar with modern software architecture and version control (Git or Azure DevOps).
• U.S. Person for ITAR/EAR compliance and applicable program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software for automated test equipment (ATE) and HIL systems.
• Develop software to control lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, generators, power supplies).
• Translate test requirements into repeatable automated software solutions.
• Create reusable software architectures and libraries for multiple products.
• Develop operator interfaces, data acquisition, analysis, and report generation.
• Integrate software with avionics hardware, FPGA designs, and embedded software.
• Support hardware integration, qualification, environmental, and production testing.
• Troubleshoot software/instrumentation issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Document software requirements, design, and test procedures.
• Support version control and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve test efficiency and quality.
