Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Test Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automated test systems for aerospace avionics. You will build interface hardware, develop schematics, integrate instrumentation, and collaborate with software and hardware teams to enable robust qualification and production testing.

The role emphasizes hardware bring-up, calibration, debugging, and support of HIL, environmental, and production tests, with a focus on reliability and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing electrical test equipment.
• Experience designing mixed-signal circuits and PCB assemblies.
• Strong analog/digital circuit design, signal integrity, power distribution, grounding, and PCB layout knowledge.
• Experience integrating commercial instrumentation into automated test systems.
• Familiarity with common lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, etc.).
• Knowledge of SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, USB, GPIB, or PXI.
• U.S. Person with ability to obtain ITAR/EAR clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain ATE/STE/EGSE for avionics development and production.
• Design custom electrical interface hardware including signal conditioning, switching networks, and power distribution.
• Develop schematics, cable assemblies, wiring diagrams, and hardware documentation.
• Select and configure laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition, etc.).
• Design and fabricate test fixtures, harnesses, and adapter assemblies.
• Collaborate with Test Software Engineers to deliver integrated HW/SW test solutions.
• Support HIL, qualification, environmental, and production acceptance testing.
• Develop test hardware for FPGA-based, processor-based, and mixed-signal avionics.
