Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Senior Instructor to support Customer Meter Services (CMS) training across Upstate New York, based at the Seneca Street Training Center in Schenectady. You will deliver technical, safety, and qualification training to Gas and Electric CMS employees and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Safety and Compliance teams.

This role emphasizes developing others, creating engaging learning experiences, and continuously improving training materials while upholding safety

Qualifications

• Experience within CMS, I&R, GFO, Electric Operations, Corrosion Operations, or a similar utility environment.
• Strong technical knowledge and operational expertise within gas and/or electric networks.
• An understanding of adult learning principles and ability to apply them to create engaging training experiences would be advantageous.
• Experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or developing others.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and present it across multiple environments.
• Demonstrated leadership within training, workforce development, or operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical, safety, compliance and qualification training for Gas and Electric CMS employees.
• Facilitate classroom, laboratory, field-based, virtual and blended learning experiences.
• Conduct practical demonstrations, skills evaluations and qualification assessments.
• Support onboarding, progression schools, and refresher training initiatives.
• Mentor, coach and develop employees through hands-on learning and real-world scenarios.
• Develop, review and improve training materials and instructor guides.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Safety and Compliance to align with regulatory requirements.
• Promote safety and continuous improvement culture.
