Job summary

Vertex Inc is seeking an experienced technical support professional to act as the final escalation point for complex client issues. The role emphasizes advanced troubleshooting across data-driven apps, relational databases, REST/SOAP APIs, Java, and Linux environments.

You will mentor staff, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and help define scalable support processes. On-call duties and on-going knowledge base updates are required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience in technical support, application troubleshooting, or systems engineering in a customer-facing or enterprise environment.
• Ideally located on the West Coast or able to consistently work Pacific Time Zone hours to support customer and team needs.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience; hands-on with REST and SOAP API/web services; knowledge of Oracle and SAP environments; Linux/Unix exposure.
• Experience troubleshooting data-driven applications connected to relational databases, XML sources, and high-volume web services.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols and debugging across technologies and languages.
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix, shell scripting, FTP scripting, and scheduling tools.
• Proven ability to manage high-stakes customer escalations with composure and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the final escalation point for complex, sensitive client technical issues.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for data-driven applications, relational databases, APIs, Java, Linux, and related technologies.
• Act as a Customer Support liaison during pre- and post-implementation phases to ensure technical readiness and continuity.
• Partner with internal product, engineering, and support teams to address customer needs and rollout new technologies.
• Mentor less senior staff and manage complex escalations from Tier 2 analysts.
• Create, edit, and maintain knowledge base articles and best practice documentation.
• Maintain shared support environments and fulfill on-call responsibilities on rotation.
