Qualifications

• Must hold a Master’s degree in English, journalism or a technical field.
• 10+ years of technical writing experience with supervisory and project management.
• Expert-level knowledge of the GPO Style Manual and editorial standards.
• Strong skills in substantive editing, fact checking, reference checking, and copyright compliance.
• Ability to manage the full document lifecycle including online and web publishing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the editorial process for high-stakes technical documentation across programs.
• Mentor junior staff and lead editorial teams to ensure quality and consistency.
• Transform raw data and engineering jargon into authoritative publications that meet agency requirements.
• Perform reference checks, fact checks and copyright compliance reviews.
• Manage the full document lifecycle from outline to final publication, including online and web publishing.
