Battelle is seeking a Senior Technical Editor Lead to head the full editorial lifecycle for high-stakes federal documentation in a hybrid role based in the McLean/Crystal City area. Lead complex reports, manuals, and web content while ensuring agency style compliance and publication-ready quality.

The role requires 10+ years of senior editorial experience, strong leadership, and expert knowledge of GPO style and federal standards. Hybrid work setup with collaboration across multiple-author teams.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English, both verbal and written, with ability to translate complex content into clear documents.
• Master's degree in English, journalism, communication, a technical field, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of technical editing, writing, publication management, or related experience for senior-level docs.
• Expert-level knowledge of GPO Style Manual and agency style guides; quality control practices for federal publications.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, SharePoint, and desktop publishing.

Responsabilités

• Lead editorial operations across complex federal agency documentation programs.
• Transform raw data and engineering terminology into publication-ready materials.
• Ensure stylistic consistency and quality control across large multi-author programs.
• Perform editing, fact-checking, and copyright compliance reviews.
• Manage document schedules from outline to publication, including web publishing workflows.
• Coordinate review cycles with authors, reviewers, clients, and leadership.
• Mentor junior editorial staff across concurrent workflows.
• Maintain document configuration control and resolve editorial comments.
