Job summary

PCI Federal (PCIF) seeks a Senior Technical Writer to oversee the editorial process for high-stakes technical documentation and ensure stylistic consistency across large programs. The role emphasizes reference checking, fact checking, and copyright compliance, with mentoring of junior staff.

The candidate will manage the full lifecycle from outline to final publication, including online and web publishing, while applying the GPO Style Manual to all publications and ensuring quality control

Qualifications

Master's Degree in English, Journalism, or a technical field.
10+ years of experience in technical writing with supervisory and project management experience.
Transportation experience, especially in highway and surface transportation, is preferred.
Expert-level command of the GPO Style Manual.
Strong skills in substantive editing, fact checking, reference checking, and copyright compliance.
Ability to manage the full document lifecycle including online and web publishing.
Excellent mentoring and leadership skills to guide junior staff.

Responsibilities

Ensure stylistic consistency and compliance with agency style guides; mentor junior staff.
Transform data and engineering jargon into authoritative documents; manage references and copyrights.
