Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technical writing, English, communications, journalism, or related field.
• 5–10 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing and publishing.
• Expertise in GPO and Chicago style; ensure 508 compliance.
• Experience in transportation sector research is highly preferred.
• Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and typography.
• Ability to translate engineering jargon for diverse audiences.
• Skilled in conducting subject matter research and interviews with technical experts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and edit content for magazines, newsletters, user manuals, and research documents.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical staff to distill complex concepts into clear narratives.
• Provide substantive editing, rephrasing, and rewriting to improve flow and structure.
• Verify technical accuracy and ensure integration of schematics and tables with text.
• Manage copyright clearances and ensure Section 508 accessibility and compliance.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing or related field

Advanced degree or editorial training in editorial standards or transportation research (preferred)
