Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead complex tax automation implementations across ERP and eCommerce integrations.

You will own high-priority engagements, guide customers through advanced configurations, and elevate the capabilities of the implementation team with mentorship and scalable solutions. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline and 8+ years of experience in software implementation within the B2B sector.
Deep expertise in tax automation: proven ability to independently lead implementations of tax engines and related systems.
Strong knowledge of US sales and use tax compliance, nexus rules, and multi-jurisdictional requirements.
Proven expertise across ERP integrations including Sage, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, NetSuite, and QuickBooks.
Strong executive presence and communication; mentoring capabilities for junior team members.
Strategic thinker who translates customer pain points into scalable, repeatable solutions.
Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve implementation speed, documentation quality, or delivery consistency.

Responsibilities

Architect and deliver end-to-end implementations across the full suite of supported ERP and platform integrations.
Own a portfolio of high-priority, high-complexity customers, ensuring exceptional delivery quality and satisfaction.
Lead discovery sessions with enterprise customers to assess tax workflows and develop tailored implementation plans.
Manage technical and tax aspects end-to-end, including risk identification and mitigation and customer communication.
Serve as a senior escalation point, guiding junior specialists through advanced configurations and methodology.
Collaborate to contribute onboarding materials, training curricula, and SOPs that strengthen the practice.
Work with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to surface recurring challenges and drive improvements.
Apply AI tools to accelerate discovery synthesis, solution design, documentation, and planning.
