Job summary

Avalara is seeking a Support Tax Technologist to bridge product vision with enterprise customer needs. You will apply deep tax technology, ERP integration knowledge, and advanced troubleshooting to maximize Avalara solutions.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering and Support teams to define scalable integrations, guide post‑implementation success, and lead customer enablement programs across strategic partners and enterprise accounts.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years in tax technology implementation, enterprise application support, ERP integrations, technical consulting, or technical support within the compliance automation industry.
Experience supporting large enterprise customers and complex technical environments.
Subject‑matter expertise in at least one major enterprise ERP platform.
Experience supporting cloud‑based business applications and SaaS platforms.
Experience with tax and compliance technology solutions: sales and use tax, VAT, exemptions, returns, and related compliance processes.
Experience in accounting, tax operations, tax technology, or related compliance services.
Experience assessing and mitigating risks related to sales and local tax (SALT) compliance.
Experience supporting customer escalations, leading cross‑functional problem resolution efforts, and managing complex technical issues.

Responsibilities

Engage enterprise customers to translate technical and compliance requirements into scalable integration solutions.
Serve as subject‑matter expert for Avalara solutions and integrations.
Translate tax requirements—including sales and use tax, VAT, exemptions, returns, e‑invoicing, and other compliance obligations—into configurable, scalable technology solutions.
Provide support for Avalara enterprise ERP integrations and associated business workflows.
Handle escalated customer issues and coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
Collaborate with customers to understand technical challenges, identify root causes, and implement long‑term solutions.
Design and recommend scalable compliance architectures that embed compliance into operational systems.
Deliver structured customer feedback to Product and Engineering, influencing product direction.
Support post‑implementation hyper‑care and handoff activities with the Implementation Tax Technologist team.
Lead customer‑facing training programs, webinars, and enablement sessions for enterprise customers and strategic partners.
Drive internal enablement by evaluating recurring customer questions and conducting office hour sessions for the Global Support Organization.
Develop and maintain best practices, technical documentation, integration guidance, and knowledge resources.
