Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead the most strategic customer implementations, setting standards and shaping the practice across ERP, POS, and eCommerce integrations, including multi‑jurisdictional tax scenarios.

You will own high‑stakes engagements, mentor senior staff, design scalable discovery and implementation playbooks, and push product/engineering alignment while embedding AI‑enabled approaches to accelerate delivery and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software implementation experience in B2B, multi-platform deployments.
• Recognized expert in tax automation with enterprise-scale implementations.
• Deep knowledge of multi-jurisdictional tax requirements and ERP integrations.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver end-to-end implementations across ERP and platform integrations (Sage, Dynamics, Salesforce, NetSuite, QuickBooks) at the highest complexity.
• Own a portfolio of strategic customer engagements and ensure delivery quality benchmarks.
• Design and lead discovery engagements, translating tax workflows into scalable architectures.
• Identify patterns and translate them into scalable playbooks, tooling, and SOPs.
• Mentor senior/mid-level specialists and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate discovery, design, documentation, and planning.
