Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to join the Technical Services team in the New York area. This hands-on leadership role guides Help Desk and On-Site Engineers and oversees complex infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in IT, MSP exposure, and deep VMware, AD, and security experience. This role is office/site-based with potential travel and a strong focus on client delivery and uptime.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of IT industry experience, including prior experience in a support role interfacing with end users.
• Experience in the MSP industry highly desired.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere (4.x–6.x).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with server OS, application, and data backup/recovery.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with security technologies (firewalls, IPS, web filtering).
• Experience designing and supporting site-to-site and remote access VPN solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft Server migrations (Active Directory, File Servers, SQL Server, Exchange).
• Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving network connectivity issues.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior escalation point for Help Desk and On-Site Engineers, providing guidance on complex issues.
• Review and help ensure the quality and consistency of work by on-site and help desk staff.
• Mentor and provide hands-on training to junior and peer engineers on relevant technologies.
• Act as a technical advocate for the support team, both internally and with clients.
• Lead hardware and service deployment projects including servers, SANs, switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Administer and maintain Microsoft environments (Windows Server, Exchange, Office 365).
• Design, install, and support VPN solutions (site-to-site and remote access).
• Troubleshoot and resolve server, network, hardware, and software issues across client environments.
• Document client environments, systems, and resolutions for ongoing support.
• Log, prioritize, assign, track, and resolve incidents within SLA.
