Job summary

Eaton Corporation in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer to lead momentum product improvements and support troubleshooting and corrective actions for field and production issues.

The role focuses on reliability and quality improvements of motor controllers, DC motors, circuit boards and actuators. Reports to the Sustaining Engineering Manager and requires ITAR compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in electrical engineering role.
• Eaton will not consider applicants for employment sponsorship or support for this position.

• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Grand Rapids, MI facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Responsibilities

• Drive product improvements through engineering analysis, redesign and testing of electromechanical actuators and system hardware.
• Sustain product viability through proactive evaluation and redesign of hardware with obsolete components.
• Develop test plans, specifications and general test procedures for requalification activities; coordinate requalification testing, advise laboratory personnel supporting efforts, evaluate test results, and develop test reports.
• Support Printed Wire Assembly (PWA) Supplier transfer initiatives.
• Work with Supply Chain, Customer Service and HPWT to support and drive cost reduction initiatives and promote growth through product reliability and quality improvements.
• Support customer service product inquiries. Read and interpret internal, industrial and customer product specifications and make recommendations for enhancements based on engineering analysis and field data.
• Support FRACAS system development, tracking, and metric development.
• Develop Fault Isolation Manuals for operations team to troubleshoot electrical components.
