Job summary

Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble, TX seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the Main OR team. The role involves scrubbing for operative and invasive procedures, ensuring aseptic technique, and delivering perioperative care under RN supervision.

Full-time schedule 6:30am-7pm, Friday through Sunday with call and holidays. BLS required; 1+ year Main OR experience preferred; CST preferred but grandfathered techs accepted. Located in Humble, TX.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program; CST preferred under NBSTSA/NCCT if applicable
• BLS certification required (AHA)
• New grads or experienced CSTs welcome, depending on unit needs.

Responsibilities

• Supports goals of the OR by serving as a resource for the assigned area.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and assists the physician during procedures.
• Verifies supplies and equipment availability per surgeon's preference card before procedures.
• Ensures safe patient care adhering to policies and standards within budget and time constraints.
• Provides orientation and support to less experienced staff as a preceptor/mentor.
• Models Memorial Hermann service standards by delivering compassionate, personalized care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Certified Surgical Technologist

• Full time; 6:30am-7pm, every Friday - Sunday

This position is located at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble.

Position responsible for providing proficient perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. Position functions as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures. Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and as outlined in the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory; uses knowledge/expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff.

Position must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served as well as knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program

Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Basic Life Support current Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

• New Grad <1 year
• Surg Tech I =1 year
• Surg Tech II = 2-4 years
• Surg Tech III = 5+ years

Principal Accountabilities

• Supports goals of unit and facilitates unit operations by serving as a resource specialist for an assigned operating room area/specialty service.
• Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique, advanced surgical techniques and practice of patient care techniques for all clients undergoing elective and emergency situations; performs duties in an expert manner according to the age/needs of the patient/population served.
• Verifies functioning and adequate availability of supplies/instruments/equipment prior to the surgical procedure as indicated by the surgeon’s preference card and other available resources; demonstrates the application of the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner that provides for optimal patient care in the OR.
• Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff; provides orientation and in-service training to department personnel.
