Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to provide direct and indirect care in the operating room. The role includes assisting the surgeon, preparing the sterile field, and functioning as a lead technologist when needed in a busy surgical department in Birmingham, Alabama.

The position requires BLS certification within 30 days and either a Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology or an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Education: Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology; Associate's Degree: Surgical Technology

Responsibilities

• Preparation for surgeon specific operative/invasive procedures
• Sets up sterile field and is scrubbed prior to patient entering the room
• Precepts surgical techs and RNs to prepare for procedures
• Assist surgeon and perform operative/invasive procedures
• Teach RNs to scrub on a variety of cases
• Plans, anticipates and provides for expected and unexpected intra-op events
