Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a surgical technologist to support direct and indirect patient care. You will assist surgeons, prepare operative fields, and mentor staff and students. The role requires cleanliness, precision, and teamwork across cases of varying complexity.

You will precept RNs and technologists, ensure timely instrument readiness, and adapt techniques to surgeon preferences while maintaining patient safety and privacy.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days (AHA).
• Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology is required.
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures with timely, accurate setup.
• Ensure instruments, equipment, and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entry.
• Collaborate with surgeon and mentor staff during cases.
• Perform first scrub, first assist, and second scrub roles as needed.
• Manage case turnover and post-procedure dressing and transfer.
