Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 5 years in a medical office environment with exposure to physician billing, medical collections, coding, surgery scheduling and/or patient access.
• Preferred Education: 2 years of college.
• Experience: 2 years in healthcare scheduling and/or surgery scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Independently schedules complex patient surgical procedures across multiple providers and locations.
• Provides pre-certification for advanced procedures to ensure coverage and proper billing.
• Oversees complex authorization issues and ensures high-level cases are approved.
• Enters scheduling, insurance, and registration information accurately in systems.
• Monitors surgical block time and communicates with surgeons about unused time.
• Handles patient communications and escalates scheduling concerns as needed.
