Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a scheduler to manage operating time for information systems operations, ensuring optimal utilization of equipment and resources. The role involves coordinating surgical procedures, pre-surgical clearances, and discharge planning with clinicians and staff.

The candidate should have 3+ years of professional experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with EMR, ICD-10, CPT coding, and Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of professional experience is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual preferred (Spanish and English).
• Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Some medical experience and prior surgery scheduling experience.
• Prior electronic medical record (EMR) experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

• Schedules operating time for information systems operations to ensure effective utilization.
• Schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic therapy and other treatments; coordinates pre-surgical clearance and discharge care.
• Verifies receipt of physician orders and coordinates with patients, providers, and associates via email, fax, and phone.
• Educates patients on pre-op and post-op instructions and recommends standard service policies.
• Coordinates preventive maintenance with operating requirements and reconciles surgery reports within 24 hours to verify authorizations.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
