Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a scheduler for operating room information systems to ensure efficient use of equipment and timely patient care. Under general supervision, you will coordinate surgeries, pre-surgical clearance, and discharge planning, while verifying physician orders.

The role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and prior EMR and ICD-10/CPT coding knowledge. Minimum three years of professional experience is required.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual preferred.
• Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Some medical experience.
• Previous surgery scheduling experience.
• Previous EMR experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic therapy and other treatments, coordinating pre-surgical clearance.
• Verifies receipt of physician orders.
• Communicate with patients, providers, and associates via email, fax, and telephone; educates patients on pre-op and post-op instructions.
• Recommends standard policies and procedures for providing routine service.
• Coordinates preventive maintenance requirements with operating requirements.
• Reconciles surgery reports within 24 hours to confirm authorizations match surgery performed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
