Job summary

Liberty Mutual Surety is seeking a Senior Surety Underwriter for our Small to Mid Commercial team to develop and underwrite profitable surety business and service agents, brokers, and small to mid commercial accounts within an assigned territory.

The role emphasizes financial/risk analysis, relationship management, and collaboration with internal teams to drive profitability and growth. AHybrid in-office expectation may apply based on location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent.
• 2.5+ years of surety underwriting experience preferred.
• AFSB certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and negotiate accounts to maximize profitability while minimizing risk.
• Manage profitability and retention of an assigned book of business while developing the portfolio through strong relationships with agents and brokers.
• Perform financial statement analysis and assess credit, liquidity, and operating metrics to support underwriting decisions.
• Stay current with product lines and coordinate with Home Office Underwriters and Field Management as needed.
• Mentor junior staff and support special projects as assigned.
