Job summary

Liberty Mutual Surety is currently recruiting for a Senior Surety Underwriter to join our Small to Mid Commercial Surety team in Florida.

Responsibilities include underwriting and negotiating accounts, managing profitability and retention of a book of business, and analyzing financial statements to assess risk. The role also involves mentoring junior staff and collaborating with agents, brokers, and Home Office teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
• 2.5+ years of surety underwriting experience or related experience.
• Ability to evaluate underwriting risks and manage workflows.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and negotiate accounts to maximize profitability while minimizing risk.
• Manage the profitability and retention of an assigned book of business and develop the portfolio with agents.
• Analyze financial statements to assess financial strength of accounts.
• Stay updated on product lines and identify opportunities with agents and brokers.
• Coordinate and surface issues with Home Office Underwriters and Field Management.
• Mentor junior staff and perform special projects as assigned.
