Qualifications

• Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
• 2.5+ years of surety underwriter experience or related experience.
• Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks across the full process.
• Ability to define and implement underwriting processes/workflows.
• Proven track record of underwriting profitable Surety business.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and negotiate accounts to maximize profitability while minimizing risk, including complex accounts.
• Manage profitability and retention of an assigned book, develop the portfolio through strong relationships with agents/brokers.
• Analyze financial statements and assess financial position from quarterly data and work in progress.
• Stay informed about product lines and identify opportunities with agents and brokers.
• Investigate, analyze, and manage underwriting and workflow issues within Surety policies.
