Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent; 2.5+ years surety underwriting experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles to evaluate credit risk.
• Proven analytical ability to assess surety underwriting risks within responsibility scope.
• AFSB certification preferred.
• Clear written and verbal communication of analyses; strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Salary and level based on experience and location.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and negotiate accounts to maximize profitability while minimizing risk.
• Manage profitability and retention of an assigned book of business with agents/brokers.
• Perform analytical evaluations of financial statements and monitor risk position.
• Stay informed about product lines and identify opportunities with agents/brokers.
• Investigate, analyze, and manage underwriting/workflow issues within policy framework.
• Mentor junior staff where applicable.
• Contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned.
