Job summary

Liberty Mutual Surety is seeking a Senior Surety Underwriter to join our Small to Mid Commercial team in Maryland. You will develop and underwrite profitable surety business, servicing independent agents, brokers, and small to mid commercial accounts within an assigned territory.

You will analyze financial statements, manage profitability, and build trusted advisor relationships with producers and customers, while mentoring junior staff and supporting special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent required.
• 2.5+ years surety underwriting experience preferred.
• AFSB certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and negotiate accounts to maximize profitability and minimize risk.
• Analyze financial statements and provide underwriting recommendations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agents and brokers.
• Monitor portfolio profitability and engage in market opportunities.
• Coordinate with Home Office Underwriters and Field Management as needed.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in special projects.
