Job summary

American Family Insurance seeks an attorney to supervise outside counsel handling complex litigation for the company and its insureds, under corporate guidelines and professional responsibility rules. The role includes initial coverage reviews, drafting Reservation of Rights letters, and advising business partners as needed.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Legal, this is a high-responsibility litigation position. Internal candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of location.

Qualifications

• Experience managing outside counsel on complex litigation.
• Ability to draft Reservation of Rights letters and provide coverage analysis.
• Knowledge of professional responsibility rules in practiced jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload to secure favorable outcomes.
• Oversee outside counsel and ensure adherence to company standards.
• Develop defense strategy through file life cycle and reserve practices.
• Draft and review RORs and coordinate with Coverage partners.
• Present files to senior leadership and monitor file closure.
