American Family Insurance is seeking an experienced attorney to proactively manage Outside Counsel, drive litigation strategy, and shepherd files toward successful resolutions in a remote role. The position requires civil litigation expertise, strong knowledge of tort and contract law, and bar admission.

Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates. The role demands collaboration with management and attorney teams, timely reporting, and the ability to present files to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the state bar in the location or within one year of hire.
• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA- accredited law school.
• Experience handling civil pleadings, motions, discovery, and depositions.
• Knowledge of professional responsibility, tort and contract law.

Responsibilities

• Proactively managing Outside Counsel.
• Holding outside counsel accountable for meeting company requirements.
• Developing and implementing defense strategies across the lifecycle of a file.
• Analyzing or developing strategy for each file and adjusting as litigation dictates.
• Adhering to litigation best practices and proper trial preparations.
• Timely escalation and reporting on files to management and attorney team.
• Collaboratively align with senior leadership on file handling and risk management.
